Milk Carton Tabs Are your Friend

One struggle when you can only use one hand is trying to button your pants (or trousers for those outside of the United States) using said hand. I've had multiple times when I just gave up and asked someone for help, this making me dependent. This blog is about independence in the light of only being able to use one hand, so I'll teach you a trick to the one handed trade.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I'm confined to the bonds of almond coconut milk. These things come in cartons, much the same as a quart of milk. Also like a quart of milk, they have this tab that you have to remove to access the beverage. What I just discovered last night before I even made this blog was that I can use this milk tab to my advantage.

Take the loop on the tab and flip it inside out however you can, be it with your teeth and hand or asking a friend. Now you should have a sort of a figure 8 shape with the tab. Stick the loop around your button and stick the closed end in your pants/trousers, slap a belt on, and presto changeo, you now have a budget button extender.

My next post will either be about chaffing with a sling or an update to my injury. In a matter of hours from now, I will know if I need surgery for my scaphoid. In the meantime, I'm Southpaw Dave and this is my advice for the day.
